It’s no secret that The Hobby Shop has been a staple in the town of Faversham for many years – in fact – the shop has been trading since 1988 – that’s a whopping 35 years! We feel pride for any businesses that choose Faversham to trade, but to trade for over 3 decades is really something special.

The Magnificent Founders – Mark and Margaret!
Turning The Hobby Shop from dream to reality, Mark and Margaret Alexander began their trading journey down the picturesque West Street, before son, Harvey took over the reins in 2008, giving both Mark and Margaret a well earned rest. Since then, it has grown from strength to strength, attracting customers far and wide.
Stocking so much in Preston Street
It was evident that The Hobby Shop had grown out of West Street, and in recent years, it made the move to bigger premises in Preston Street, where it is thriving.
Here, Harvey sells far more than railway kits, although they are very popular with local rail enthusiasts. He is keen to add variety to the shop, inviting the interest of many to view what’s on offer.
Joining the railway kits on the shelves are puzzles, Lego, Monopoly games (fantastic!), Pokémon cards, plastic kits such as Airfix models, and so much more.
The real beauty about The Hobby Shop is that it truly does serve so many hobbies, for those both young and old, and all in between. After all, it’s never too early or late for a hobby!
Keeping the economy local
The Hobby Shop is a great way to find that perfect piece of kit in the community, ensuring that where you spend your money, it stays locally, rather than getting lost amongst much bigger stockists that we won’t mention here…

It’s been a pleasure to know that Harvey has been a firm supporter of Faversham Monopoly since talks of it began five years ago.
